The Office of Residential Life is promoting the use of water bottle refilling stations in the residence halls through the new "Water Works" outreach program. The "Water Works" program capitalizes on the water bottling refilling station's "ticker" technology, which calculates the number of single use bottles diverted from the waste stream. Water Works encourages students to use a reusable water bottle and minimize waste by awarding prizes to students when the ticker hits increments of 1,000.
When the ticker hits increments of 1,000 at any of the water bottle refilling stations in the residence hall, students can upload a photo of the water bottle refilling station and post it to the Water Works Facebook page. Once students upload the photo to Facebook, the Office of Residential Life will reward the students with a prize.
