Orientation: Introducing Sustainability at Temple |
The well known adage states "You don't get a second chance to make a first impression". Temple's Office of Sustainability takes that message to heart. Each fall, Temple welcomes new students and their families to campus. The Office of Sustainability uses the opportunity of Welcome Week to reach out to new members of the Temple community to inform them of the university's commitment to sustainability and to ask for their involvement. |

Gym Opening |
The new gym in Pearson/McGonigle's complex will be opening Monday, November 12th. The stellar facility features cardio equipment that uses the energy from your workout to produce and help power the building. Workout here Monday through Friday, 11am - 8pm for a healthy body and healthy conscience. |

Sun Spots |
You can now use the sun to charge your personal devises at Temple's new solar charging stations. The three stations are equipped with 4 standard outlets, 2 usb ports and a battery-storage system to allow you to plug in at any time of day. Make sure to check them out at the vendor pad and outside of Saxby's on Liacouras walk. |

Car Charge |
Electric cars are now available on Temple's campus through Philly Car Share. The cars are parked in front of Johnson and Hardwick and are available to the Temple community and the general public for use via Philly Car Share. |

TU Lock |
Got a bike? Register it with Temple's Campus Safety Services and you can recieve a FREE bike U-Lock. Students who register their bikes with Campus Safety Services at 1101 W. Montgomery Ave. will receive a voucher for a free Kryptonite bike lock which they can redeem at Breakaway Bikes. Campus Safety has 500 locks to give away on a first come, first serve basis. Registration begins Monday, August 27th and will run Monday through Friday, 10 am to 4 pm. |

Dutch Think Bike |
The Royal Netherlands Embassy, the Dutch Cycling Embassy, the City of Philadelphia and the Bike Coalition are coming to Temple to host a 2-day event – the ThinkBike Workshops – on Monday, June 18th and Tuesday, June 19th. |

Ready to Ride |
As of August 23rd and one more week to go, Temple is dominating in the Commuter Challenge. We are 1st in Philly and 13th nationally of all workplaces. Way to go everybody! |

Give + Go Green |
Volunteer opportunities are available for the annual Give and Go Green charitable collection that runs in the residence halls the last couple weeks of the academic year. We need help sorting through and preparing donated items. Lunch will be served to all volunteers. |

Supply Exchange |
To reduce waste within the University, the Computer Recycling Center collects excess office supplies that can be exchanged for new supplies. Collections occur every Wednesday from 2-4 at the CRC. |

Gown Swap |
Temple's Office of Sustainability, Computer Recycling Center and Fox School of Business are providing students with the opportunity to borrow a FREE graduation gown for the Spring commencement. The gowns were collected last year in an effort to reduce the number of single-use gowns entering the waste stream. |

ARC and Energy Conservation |
We followed up with the Academic Resource Center (ARC) after a Green Office Consultation and found that they had taken major steps to become a more sustainable workplace. Read more to find out what the ARC did to receive their recognition. |

Bird's Eye View |
Bird's Eye View, an initiative of the Graphic & Interactive Design program at Tyler School of Art, aims to raise awareness of the dangers of birds colliding into windows at Temple and across the city of Philadelphia by exploring visual options for effective window film patterns. |

Tired of traffic on the way to campus? Sign up now for the University Pass, a 10% discounted semester long SEPTA transit pass that is available to full-time students. The deadline for payment on the University Pass is January 18, 2013. |
