Our Goals and Finals results for 2012
After exceeding our goals last year, we decided to raise the bar. The following are our current goals:
- 415,000 pounds of total recycling
- 1st Place in A10 division for most recyclables
- 1st Place in A10 division for waste minimization
With the final results in, this is how Temple performed in the A10 division:
- 1st in the Gorilla category
- 1st in the Waste Minimization category
- 1st in the Grand Champion category
- 5th in the Per Capita Classic category
Eligible Materials
Materials that Temple University recycles that are eligible for RecycleMania include:
- Paper (Boxboard / chipboard, Catalogs, Hard and softbound books, Junk mail, Magazines, Newspaper, Office Paper(all colors) , Phone books)
- Bottles and cans (#1 and #2 Plastics, aluminum cans (i.e. soda, tuna, soup), glass bottles and jars)
- Cardboard (baled and unbaled cardboard boxes, boxboard / chipboard)

Paper Purge
The Office of Sustainability and the Office of Facilities Management are teaming up for the 2012 RecycleMania Contest (February 5th to March 31, 2012). This year marks Temple’s sixth year of competition with our peers in the Atlantic 10 Athletic Conference. As paper makes up the largest portion of our recyclable material stream and is heavy, we are promoting a paper purge during RecycleMania. Purging paper will help us reach our goal of 415,000 pounds of recyclables during RecycleMania. Please note that paper must be collected between February 5th and March 31st to count toward the contest.
