Sponsor(s):
Office of Sustainability; Green Building United
Location:
Temple University, Architecture Building, Room 104, 2001 North 13th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122

The Living Community Challenge takes the ideals established by the Living Building Challenge for a single project and applies them to a larger scale, for master planning, residential developments, campuses, a park, or even a street.

The Living Community Challenge (LCC) is a philosophy, advocacy tool, and certification program for communities and master plans at all scales, and is composed of seven performance areas, or “Petals”, that include Place, Water, Energy, Health and Happiness, Materials, Equity, and Beauty and Spirit.

At this event, coordinated by the Living Building Challenge Community of Green Building United, you will be introduced to the requirements of the Living Community Challenge and have an opportunity to participate in an interactive break-out session where we will ask event participants to help us reimagine a planned residential development in an urban and suburban context. We are very excited to have Shawn Hesse of the International Living Future Institute to help us explore how communities can be transformed by the ideas found within the standard.

If you’re new to the Living Community Challenge, have an interest in master planning/community design, or want to brush up on your sustainability knowledge, this event is for you! We hope you can join us!!

Register for the event hereEvent is worth 2 AICP CM credits, 2 GBCI CE hours, and 2 AIA LU-HSWs.
