Scientists worldwide are now nearly unanimous in their agreement that the earth’s climate and ecosystems are in great danger. Corporations, as both the most powerful and the most environmentally destructive institution on the planet, must lead the change away from our current “dirty” ways of thinking and acting. Thus, this course is intended to help illustrate how corporations can contribute to creating a sustainable future for everyone. A particular emphasis will be placed on how corporations can move beyond their predominant focus on the “bottom line” to a wider focus on a “triple bottom line” that simultaneously considers people, planet and prosperity/profitability of the company. You will also explore the range of career opportunities available in the emerging “green collar workforce” with entrepreneurs and industry experts. Finally, you’ll get the chance to participate in a hands-on sustainability project that requires you to consider and act upon the principles of “people, planet & prosperity.”
