The Bhakti Yoga Club is meant to share the practice of Bhakti Yoga at Temple. Their events are designed to help students reduce their stress and experience a peaceful state of mind. Their core offerings to the Temple student body are Ayurvedic "Karma Free" vegan food, yoga and meditation classes, engaging discussions on Vedic philosophy, and lots of opportunities for new friendships with others looking to uplift their spirits together.
Bhakti Yoga Club also works directly with the staff of the Gita Nagari Eco Farm & Sanctuary, located in the beautiful Tuscora valley, 2.5 hours from Philadelphia. A non-profit organization established in 1974, Gita Nagari Eco Farm & Sanctuary is home to the first and only USDA Certified slaughter-free dairy farm in North America. They are operated by a diverse team of volunteers whose vision is to accelerate global transformation through compassionate living. Students are invited to visit the farm and experience sustainable living in action. Students will have an opportunity to milk cows, work with trained oxen, learn about practical self-sufficiency and reconnect with the natural world throughout any of their alternative break programs. Plug into ongoing sustainability projects like organic farming, forest conservation, bio-digester development, renewable energy installation and many others. Being rooted in the principles of compassion, environmental justice and animal welfare, their farm offers a peaceful space in which students can serve, relax, introspect, and return home with new perspectives.
