Give + Go Green

Give + Go Green is an annual event where students donate food and clothing that they do not wish to take with them when they move out of the residence halls in May. Each year, collection boxes are placed in the lobbies of  residence halls so that students can easily donate items they would otherwise throw in the trash. Check out our Donation Resource Guide to find out more about what to donate.

Volunteers are needed every May to help sort the donated items. Calls for volunteers are made every April.

Temple Thrift

Every fall the Office of Sustainability hosts thrift sales to promote reuse and raise awareness about textile waste. All  clothing sold at Temple Thrift is donated by students during Give + Go Green at the end of the spring semester. Most of the items are under $3 and nothing is more than $10.

Additionally, this event supports Temple's Climate Action Plan goal to address food insecurity on campus. Proceeds raised from Temple Thrift sales go directly to The Barnett & Irvine Cherry Pantry.

We depend on volunteers like you to make our pop-up thrift events a success.

We open volunteer sign-ups in August every year.

Love Your Park

Love Your Park is a collaboration between Fairount Park Conservancy, Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, and Philadelphia's Park Friends Network. Temple University participates in the Love Your Park Fall Service Day in November.

Philly Spring Clean-Up

The annual event, sponsored by the Philadelphia Streets Department, provides an opportunity for city government, residents and organizations to partner to clean Philadelphia's neighborhoods.

For over a decade, more than 11 million pounds of trash have been removed from the city and close to 600,000 pounds recycled through the Philly Spring Cleanup. Temple University Owls and their families participate in the city's largest single-day citywide cleanup ever spring.
