Eco-Friendly Move-In

The fall semester is just around the corner, and with it comes move-in! Whether you are moving into the dorms or an apartment, there are plenty of ways to start the year off sustainably.

Say no to new

Finding decor for your new space is an exciting part of prepping for the year, but you’d be surprised how easy it is to skip the store. Ask around and you’ll find plenty of recent graduates who are looking to get rid of old furniture and storage. You can also buy used Temple furniture for super cheap on the Temple Surplus site!

Work with what you have

Tiny spaces like dorms or apartments are the perfect place to practice creative upcycling! Simplify the move-in process by repurposing your moving boxes for use all year long, like these milk crate seats. You can also transform cardboard boxes into permanent fixtures with a little bit of craftiness.

Bring the green essentials

While you may be focused on necessities like toiletries, bed sheets, and clothes, don’t forget about the green essentials! Make sure to pack sustainability basics like reusable bottles, shopping bags, and mugs. Need a bottle? Stop by our office during the day and we can hook you up.

When it comes to sustainability, every little change helps. Keep these tips in mind as you settle into your new space, and one last thing... welcome back, Owls!
