Go Reusable!

Switching to reusable products is a simple way to make a positive impact environmentally and for your wallet!

Reusable Water Bottles

Stay hydrated while saving money by avoiding the cost of plastic water bottles. There are countless filtered water bottle refilling stations around campus designed specifically for this purpose. Once you spend the initial $10-20 on the bottle you want, the cost will be restored through financial savings within a couple weeks. By going reusable, you can directly reduce the amount of plastic being sent to the landfill.

Travel Coffee Thermos

Like coffee and tea? This goes hand-in-hand with the reusable water bottle! Switching to a reusable thermos will greatly reduce the waste you generate, especially because coffee-stained plastic and paper cannot be easily recycled. Save money by bringing your own home-brewed coffee with you rather than buying a single take-out cup. Need a pick-me-up in the middle of the day? Most cafes give a discount if you bring your own thermos, including The Rad Dish Cafe, Saxby's, Starbucks and 7/11 on campus!

Bag the Bag

It's time to move beyond the flimsy petroleum-based grocery bags, my friends! The single-use plastic bags are very difficult to recycle, to the point that residential trash collectors send them straight to the landfill. That's a lot of non-biodegradable plastic that easily gets into our waterways. Make the switch to reusable grocery bags to become a part of the solution! Reusable bags can conveniently hold more groceries and most stores apply discounts if you bring your own bag, including Fresh Grocer near campus.

Take-Out Containers

The food trucks on campus are truly something special, but the Styrofoam take-out containers are not. Bring your own reusable container and ask the friendly food servers to put your order in that instead. You can also save money by bringing your own lunch - be sure to avoid single-use sandwich bags when packing your food! Also, why not bring silverware? Who wants to eat with plastic forks and knives, anyway? And just as an FYI, there is a microwave on the second floor of the Student Center (one floor directly above the food court) for your convenience!

While switching to reusable products might seem like a small change, together we make an enormous impact. Go Reusable to reduce your environmental impact and save money!
