Standby power (also called phantom or vampire energy) is the electronic power consumed by devices when they are considered "off" or not in use. There is still electricity running through cords of cell phone chargers, printers, and other devices if they are plugged into an electrical socket, even though they are not in use. Upon leaving a house/room, check to make sure all unnecessary devices are switched off and unplugged to save energy and money.
